Slip-cast of British terracotta in our Devon studio, the Eos wall light is an earthy red circular sweep of clay, which forms the backdrop to a central etched-opal matt glass light-source. The natural texture of the raw ceramic glows from the centre like the radiant dawn when illuminated, while the flat rim of the gently conical shade stays in shadow, giving the disc a penumbral outline.

The natural texture of Eos is balanced by its clean-lined shape, ensuring that this fixture will be equally at home in modern and traditional settings; the deep terracotta colour works as a modern neutral, complimenting diverse décor schemes. Use it as a graceful accent light to create illumination and warmth across spaces, alone or in conjunction with other terracotta elements.

Tom Housden

Tom Housden runs a successful architectural practice, Outpost. However, he felt the choice of lighting on the market didn’t always meet project requirements and design ethos of the practice.

Housden went on to found London-based lighting studio Hand & Eye, where he designs and produces ranges that correspond to his vision of creating lighting that has a transformative effect on spaces and the people who live and work in them.
